Print Magazine

"Print is a bimonthly magazine about visual culture and design. Covering a field as broad as communication itself - publication and book design, animation and motion graphics, corporate branding and rock posters, exhibitions and street art - Print covers commercial, social, and environmental design from every angle. Print explores why our world looks the way it looks, and why the way it looks matters.
They are a four-time winner of the American Society of Magazine Editors' National Magazine Award for General Excellence, most recently in 2008, Print has been honored many times by ASME, the Society of Publication Designers, AIGA, The Art Directors Club, and The Type Directors Club.
I have picked up an issue myself and have enjoyed it more than any other magazine I have looked through for media design and the sort. I highly suggest you go out to your local Barnes & Nobles or Borders and pick one up today. You can visit their website and download past issues to get a feel for yourself what the real world is doing for the design world.

Quotes from Interview magazine

"I don't remember the last time I hated anything."

Gedi Sibony

"People say 'the art world' but that's kind of generalizing. I'm not so concerned with it. I just want to hang out with my baby and make art."

Dash Snow

"I used to walk into a room and get on the table and go, 'hee-hah!' I used to believe I was going to live forever. And then you suddenly become aware that you're not. You can walk into the studio one day and just think, this is not me."

Damien Hirst

"Sometimes I see irony in the pieces, but it's not the intention ... people have different definitions of irony. I always think of irony as basically something that's kind of surprising, where you can maybe see an unforseen connection to something."

Jeff Koons

Tumblr. Who would have thought?!

Tumblr, a neat freak of a blog site. Sure they have no clue how to spell tumbler, which happens to be a person who performs leaps, somersaults, and other bodily feats. But that, is not the definition we are looking for. Tumblr, in words straight from the writer's mouth, would be the site of all sites. One may be thinking, "this is just another blog site, a place to get lost for hours and hours of reading people's blogs, why waste my time!" Sure you could get lost for hours, but let us not think that way. Blogs are the new portfolio and Tumblr let's you create a blog that suits your personality and style. People surf the net all day and there is always a company who happens to stumble upon your tumblr thanks to a link they found on someone else's tumblr. Your tumblr could even be starred in Artists we love on their site!

All this to say that Tumblr has stumbled across my path and I have ran into some great artists already! Help your career out today and start a tumblr, you may just find out how much it could help you...
